The Best Information Technology (IT) Providers
Believe it or not, the IT industry has its critics. We continue to hear good things about the planetary, environmental, and social mitigation efforts of large companies that we do business with, but there are certainly some companies that fail to disclose every weak link in their supply chain. We give the benefit of the doubt to companies and people. We usually avoid negotiation on pricing terms, to avoid reducing the quality of service or passing the costs of high tech services, which are significant, on to customers and the working class.
To provide due diligence and the highest quality services and products, and to make sure our words match our actions, we look for motivated, “best of breed,” corporations to work with that have significant business acumen. Corporations like this already have social justice departments in place. We look to provide the best products and services to our customers, and we provide almost all services in house. We are not subcontractors, despite our vast array of business to business and direct to consumer offerings.
Our small supply chain gives us the opportunity to invest in companies who want to create relationships that will be productive for society, our businesses, and other stakeholders. We are working closely with national experts of social justice who can independently assess our operations, to ensure that if there are issues with our supply chain, we can address them, as critics. We constantly compile variables of our contribution to externalities, footprint, and the neglected cruxes of the IT industry.
Help the Economy
Business success is determined by so many factors that it’s hard to take credit for it, but some of our first customers tell us that we’ve made a big difference in their lives, which is one of the many reasons we believe we’ve been able to create long lasting relationships, business partnerships, and friendships. We can’t take credit for anybody’s success, but technology can. If we give you access to the technology you need, we believe that alone, is a valuable business consulting service. A little bit goes a long way with business advice; we understand how competitive the business world is and what kinds of challenges businesspeople and entrepreneurs face. It’s our goal to help you succeed.
We started our company with the intent to help business entities, and individuals, with critical factors to the economy. Technology, business, the world wide web, and art: There may be a few downsides to these sectors, but the upsides outweigh the downsides. We know there are environmental concerns, so we source and use our materials responsibly and efficiently, and we actively work towards providing thorough lifecycle analyses. Recycling efficiency has always been a goal of ours, and for the most part, the communities we’ve operated in are appreciative of that.
Recycling and Resource Conservation Data
What is the true cost of repairing or disposing of a computer? There are employees who need to be paid a fair wage that allows them to afford to have education, health, shelter, and food. Repairing a computer is the best thing we can do for the environment in our business, because we can remove one of the many variables that contribute to waste; by e-cycling computers and giving them to people who need them, we can eliminate the waste, contribute to a circular economy of local support, give more value to the rare earth metals used in manufacturing, which are often contributed to in slave labor, and give out a productive tool to someone who really needs it. Computers are often sold at discount, not reflective of the true costs, and although it is beneficial to the consumer to obtain low cost computers, we realize that we need to do more to advance the industry towards righteousness.
Human Rights
High schools have reached out to us asking us to accept interns, while we want to train a new generation’s workforce, we also want to proceed with caution in hiring child labor, especially during the global health crisis, COVID-19. We have hired young people in the past, after all, we were started by a college student who worked out of his garage. The same college student still runs the company, and the same friends he went to school with still work for us.
We contribute to our employees’ livelihoods by paying them hourly, as opposed to many industry players who pay low, flat rates to vulnerable contractors. We pay enough to pay what the industry going rate for their high tech occupation is, plus the cost to cover average benefits for a worker in the United States, plus an additional amount to ensure we are above average + benefits. We also offer medical benefits. We offer our employees as much vacation time as they want, we let them make their own schedules, they are encouraged to have a second job or go to school, and we provide a certification accolade to accompany the rigorous training.
The way we have been able to do this is by sheer luck. We’ve had incredible support, great locations all over the United States, very little pushback from competitors, no legal or security issues, great employees, and reliable leadership. We understand that employees should make big decisions in companies, exactly like shareholders, because employees ARE shareholders, despite whether they own one share of stock, or not. Our privilege to work in Silicon Valley, work closely with the education and small business sectors, and our leadership have steadily propelled us forward against the potentials of, “startup failure.” There is no industry like the IT industry, and when it works, it works very well. Our associates have also been in the business since the very beginning, working for the military, the early moving megafirms in the industry, and as businesspeople.
For ten years, Do It Right Computers provided service to students at absolutely no cost, free… Philanthropy forged our mission statement, and influenced all of our decision making. We considered becoming a nonprofit, because we have worked with some incredible nonprofit organizations. Do It Right Computers has never accepted, or asked for, donations. Our corporate profit incentive does drive us more on the sliding scale towards an ownership model, but we are completely committed to being philanthropic and providing a valuable service that in one way or another, the general population, and every business in the world, needs. We also offer high quality products and services, a unique category, and the lowest prices that still allow us to meet our list of demands here.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions Data
We currently have a very low footprint. As we continue to expand our operations to provide service to customers everywhere, by hiring independent contractors around the nation and world, we will provide greenhouse gas emissions data and mitigation effort reports. Another thing we plan on doing is contributing a dollar amount calculated to offset our footprint, to carbon funds that put the money back into environmental projects that sequester and displace carbon, or provide energy efficiency.
